WELL...I originally set this up for seahorses That did not work out :(
SOOOO...In it I currently have 2 greenbanded gobies (spawning at that) and 3 large peppermint shrimp.....LOL...a few shrooms and zoas, and a feather duster
Last night I took out the bubblers that were for seahorses and the fake ornaments..well almost all...LOL..I have some fake grass that has red macro attached to it, and an anchor ornament that has a mushroom on it too.....
I have the JBJ protein skimmer, 2 nano koralias, and a chiller. I am thinking of keeping the chiller on it since it is an enclosed system...IDK YET
It has the standard fluorescent lighting so only low lighting corals can go in there.....BUT NOW I would also like to add a fish that swims in the public view...haha....the GB gobies hide a lot
soooooo....any suggestions on what would be a good add to go with the gobies? I'm at a loss right now

Why not add a Fu Manchu? Or a Helfrichi firefish? Or a pygmy angel?

WELL I think the 28G is too small for a lion...and I do not want my gobies or shrimp to be lunch....LOL....NOT spending $100 for a firefish...LOL

If I had a 28g sitting around, I would make it a Damsel tank.
It's not just sitting around...LOL....and it has inhabitants that I do not want to risk

Yeah....I want something that is fun to look at.....LOL....I can't remember the name of those fish that btldreef has....the ones that stick their heads out of the sand....I'll have to go look
Bender....I was looking at the possum wrasse cause they would be ok in a 28G.....most of the others I think need bigger tanks...at least what I have looked at so far...LOL

I like PJ cardinals. barnacle blennies are cute and fun. My LFS has a tank with a piece of live rock in it and when I looked in I saw 3 fish peaking out, but I think they stay in their hidey holes a lot, so not a lot of action. Maybe you can do something like a jaw fish that stays in the sand bed and then a wrasse that swims around

Mine are Splendid Garden Eels. They're not as hard as everyone claims, at least that hasn't been my experience. Mine have ate frozen since day one. They do need at least 4" of sand. The biggest issue with them is that they take FOREVER to trust you, so you'll barely ever see them. I tore down my 30G that they were in and now they're in my refugium. They don't ship well, so they might not be a good idea for you :-/
Get fish that are jumpers that you can't keep in your open tanks. Flasher wrasse, firefish, jawfish, etc.
I think barnacle blennies are awesome. They have a lot of character. A trio of barnacle blennies and a flasher wrasse would add a lot of personality and life to the tank. The jawfish might be an issue with the Greenbanded gobies.

Looked into it more. Looks like the Pearly isn't aggressive. My blue spot was an aggressive little monster. You should be fine.

Since you have the chiller, what about Catalina Gobies?
You know I did think about that.....their recommended temps are 60-70 though.....might be a little too chilly for the green banded gobies...they require temps of 72-78.....I will say they have been fine in the cooler temps I kept with the horses...BUT...Do I really want to push it any further
