What to do with old live rock?

I am going to consider myself a complete novice to saltwater fish. I kept a FOWLR for four years during college, but have been away from the hobby for the past 2.5 years.
My primary concern right now (still in the early planning stages of my new tank) is what to do with my old live rock? I kept it in an airtight container with some old tank water. I just opened the container for the first time since I tore my old tank down. There was no smell, but there was some green stuff growing on the top of the rocks.
What should I do with this rock? Scrub it? Boil it? I have no idea.

I dont want to hijack the thread, but I took my tank down about a year ago and am setting it back up soon. The sand is dry in the tank now, it is arag-alive. Can I use it when I set it back up or should I just throw it out and get new stuff? If I can do I need to rinse it or anything?

i would not bother boiling it, I'd just scrub it off, and put it in a big bin of water with a power head and recure it.
As for the aragalive. it is no longer alive but you can rinse it and still use it, but i would buy some more to add to it.
