What to do?

I just bought 3 small-medium hermit crabs, and 3 small-medium snails as a starter clean up crew, along with six pounds of cured LR, for $5.99 per lb
. I also purchased 2 damsels, Percula and oscelleris were recomended, but the store wont get any more in till next Thursday. There was a lot of growth on the LR, :joy: and after addin it to the tank I discovered that I had also procured a feather duster or someting similar (I can post a pic if needed). I was wondering what to feed it? :notsure: I got Mysis shrimp to feed the Damsels, but since I didn't know I had a "feather duster" as well so I didnt ask what to feed it. Somebody please :help:

you don't feed feather dusters, they filter feed, keep your tank heathly and the duster will do fine.

I like Kent Marine's MicroVert to feed my filter feeding inverts.
Also, just be careful with the damsels, as they can usually be very aggressive toward other fish.

The LFS I bought them at will take them back after my tank has cycled. Then I plan on having a few Ocellaris and some gobies, not sure what else.

I think I would take them back now before you loose them during the cycle. You really shouldn't cycle a tank with live fish. Your lfs should of told you this. You can cycle the tank with a coctail shrimp or just feed a empty tank. Just my opinion.

I agree. The ammonia from the cycle will burn their gills. I am not trying to flame you, just providing information. I don't see anyway a person can justify this type of animal cruelty. There are better, and easier ways to cycle a fish tank. Why hurt an animal when it is totally unneccessary?

Are you shure its a feather duster & not Aiptasia? Post a pic, Aiptasia is bad & has to be removed ASAP.

The tank has cycled before adding the animals, but the LFS said to run it with the damsels for about 2 more weeks to aid in the build up of the bio filter, then bring them back for full credit. There are only two of them in there right now so the ammonia, nitate, and nitrites schould stay with in safe limits they said.

Not to be argumentative, but a couple of posts up you said:

I must be using the wrong terminoligy sorry if I confuzed everybody. The employees at the store said the same thing I did in that post. I would like to learn the language. I am very new at this so if anyone would like to kinda mentor me or somthing like that it would bevery helpful.

Okay, well how did you cycle this tank? When you set it up, did you put anything in it to create ammonia to build biological bacteria?

What I believe is a FD has what looks like a snail shaped shell and small fronds I will post a pic in the moning since it is to dark to take a pic right now. What do Aiptasia look like anyway? If it is will my hermit crabs take care of it or should I?

You can find a pic of aiptaisa in the hitchiker ID's in the archives. Crabs will not take care of it. I use something called Joe'sJuice.
