should i open the air valve all the way like i've read so many people do to get best performance? it's going to be on my 55 FO tank that has been up for 3 months and is currently housing 2 false percs 2 yellowtail damsels, 10lbs. of live rock, and 4 blue legged hermits. any suggestions about the new skimmer would be much appreciated!!

Although I've never used a Seaclone, most skimmers require several days to "break in and adjust to the tank." After that period, you should be able to fine tune it to your tank.

:) i just bought a seaclone 150 yesterday and i left the air valve totally open and today it has produced a full cup of very smelly skimmed water- try to leave it all the wayopen and see what happens

The amount of skimmate produced will depend on several factors. Like how much you feed the fish or if you have added any additives for example.
My experience with the seaclone has been a good one. I feel it is a good skimmer and hopefully will work good for you as well.
