What to feed Mandarin Goby?

I recently purchased a Mandarin Goby from my LFS. I really haven't seen it eat anything that I've put in my tank. Are they scavengers or is there something in particular that they like to snack on?

you need lots of live rock with sufficient population of copepods.. without that it will die over time..

I hope your tank is fairly to VERY established...What they eat as a rule of tumb, are Copepods, and they live, multiple, in LR/LS...
If you do nat have an established tank or no LR...PLEASE bring him back to the pet store or he will starve to death.... <img src="graemlins//dead.gif" border="0" alt="[dead]" />
My guys also eat flake occasionally, and they LOVE krill/Shrimp...but that is "NOT" the norm..thats just a bonus...
Im NOT trying to sound condescending...but honey, PLEASE try to read up on what ever you buy..before you buy it..it makes for a Happy Fishy and a Happy owner....
GL with the little guy..They are Definately One of my favorites..

Thanks for the info. My tank is well established with LR and LS. I guess it's my fault for buying a fish and not really have any info on it. That's why I once again must thank everyone on this forum because I learn something new everyday.

Great if your tank is established...He should be fine....Also, some people add xtra Copepods that you can order online...I think it was Mr Salty that had a site...
I've never seen them in a LFS...but IF you feel he might be hungry, you can always get them on the net..
They are GREAT Fish, and fun to watch...Good luck with him..

I know that they eat copepods, and you need live rock, but dont underestimate the effectiveness of LIVE BRINE SHRIMP.
Mine eats them like candy.

ours will eat frozen brine; but it's tank is only 35 g w/ plenty of current kind of mimicking movement when realesed into the tank it'll swim after them in the water column; you can also get them from LFS if they retain a good supply of LR there should be plenty in the LR rubble on the bottom

I added my manderine goby after 1 month of running and it is growing like a weed. I have a 55 gal and at the time it only had about 45# LR. Mine loves frozen brine, and I see it eat copepods. Some will eat shrimp , some wont.

what are copepods? the reason i ask is that i bought one from my pet store.i have live rock,the readings seem ok but she didnt live long <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

MAN AT my lfs store they keep mandarins in little containers with no lr or anything.its sad but whatever, im not tellin nobody how to run there store
