I am curious what I am supposed to feed my scooter Blenny? He doesn't seem to be eating what I feed the others. There is LR and LS in the tank. All the water levels Ammonia etc are 0 temp is 79.3, Salinity is 1.022. I am worried he might not be getting enough to eat?
Thanks

they only eat copepods, like madarin fish. if ur tank is not well established, they will starve and die. i recommend to bring him to a lfs.

SCooter Blenny's are like Mandarins. They eat copapods. How big is your tank and how much live rock and for how long? These are all factors on whether this fish will make it. You can buy tigger pods through the mail or at the LFS (possibly) if you need to boost your population.

The LFS did not tell me that he could only eat pods. I am now seriously worried....there is about 65 lbs of live rock, I haven't seen any pods with my bare eyes...this is probably bad....I can;t take him back any suggestions....

OK I just talked to my LFS, he apologized profusely and forgot that the tank wasn't the old tank but my new one. He is giving me a thing of tigger-pods on my way home.

P.S. Thanks for all your help.

You typically cannot see pods when your lights are on. They live on your LR and are very small. When you turn your lights off at night wait an hour or 2 then shine a flashlight in there and you should see them scurring around on your LR. How long has your tank been set up and how big is it? Scooter blenny's are indeed microfauna eaters and if there isnt enough in your tank to support it, then it will die. However 65lbs of LR is pretty substantial and you may stand a chance if its been set up for a while, about a year.

Thanks Perfectdark, I have been watching him. He doesn't appear any skinnier, I did get him some frozen in addition to the tigger-pods from the LFS(I can't tell if he eats it or not though, is there away to tell?). I can see little white specks in the water that look like they are floating aorund but can't really tell if htey are pods. My daughter saw this ugly looking white bug thing(kind of like a spider) on the rock one day, we haven't seen it again so maybe it was dinner..I am hoping he likes frozen just in case there aren't enough....you guys have been great and are always helpful! Thanks so much....

Scooter blennies sometimes are a little easier to switch over to frozen, try feeding mysis shrimp to it. Pods are usually tiny little white specks on the glass, that's the easiest way for me to see them, they won't eat the larger pods you can see scurrying around. Make some rocks piles in the back for them to reproduce, do you have a refugium at all?

I have a scooter blenny and I feed him brine all the time and I even got him to eat pellets not to long ago. Copes are there main but they will eat brine. they like to eat live food.

My dragonett and scooter eat mysis and cyclops as well as copepods.brine should not be a main stay of there diet because they will eventually starve due to the fact that brine has no nutritional value. If your tank is plentifull with fish your copepods will get eaten up pretty quick because fish love to eat them, but you can buy copepods from this site and add them to your tank. good luck

Well I have been dumping a jar of tigger pods in every other week for him. I never see him eat anything but I am sure he does. So how do I teach him to eat frozen? I put some frozen pods in the water from my lfs but can't tell if he eats it or not. I tried using a long tweezer and putting the food near him but he runs away of course because he is scared. And we also have those spirid worms(I think that what they are called) I clean them off the front of the DT so we can see better. He is a very active fellow crawling all over the rocks all the time. I still don't see pods in the water, but have itty bitty white floating stuff that could be pods. Any ideas how to teach him to eat other stuff?
Thanks

What are you trying to feed? I would suggest brine to start and move up to mysis, soak it some garlic and selcon for a while before feeding.
