Then should I not get them? I feel I am being told they are fine.

Anthias are beautiful fish, and they would look great in your tank. Good luck if you do decide to try them! :happyfish

I have a lyretail male, but the females i got refused to eat and died. They might eat something like rotifers when you first get them, and hopefully move onto something else. They also like to eat 2 or 3 times a day when they do start eating. Not sure if i was starting out i would go with anthias, but thats up to you.

Yes the longer you wait the better! You will be very happy if you just wait a bit to add your fish! Time will pass quickly! And it will be much safer for your fish! You do not want any ammonia or nitrites in your qt tank. :happyfish :happyfish

Do not put anthias in a newish set up either. thats probably worse than tangs because their feeding requirements can quickly overwelm a new set up. if you get just one it can be very difficult to get feeding and may need to feed on the live fauna of the tank which an established tank would be better. if you get several like recommended with their feeding habits you can easily overwelm a new tank. they arent very peaceful to each other. if your lucky like me they will be just peaceful enough to tolerate one another and keep from killing each other (speaking of lyretail). Purple tang should be added near last if you want it to be peaceful to new additions. how about a 3" or so foxface. they dont require good water conditions like tangs and are peaceful (and usually reef safe). perhaps a royal gramma or peaceful easy reef safe wrasse species. goby's if your going to get any but not the sand sifters.

Yeah didn't think so. Ok so what should I get then ? I like some of the things you suggested but I want to see what other people like in new tanks.

My #1 fav goby is Randall's, #2 is Yellow Watchman. I currently have a Tiger Pistol, he is really pretty and really friendly to tank mates, I love when he pops, it's so frickin loud! The Randall's Pistol is pretty too.

Glad to see things are coming along with your tank. (Will have to search to see if you have new pics.) I have my two clowns in my tank and now I'm going to get a pair of Bangaii Cardinals, or Diamond Goby (which ever my lfs has). Others on my fish list are in this section of the forum. After I get my Royal Gramma I'll probably start working on my corals, to give some more time for my tank to establish, before getting my anthias and tangs.
