What to use to clean up fish crap?

I am starting my first reef tank and it's been up for 2 weeks. I am going through a hair algae bloom so I got a pretty big cleaning crew. I have 40 hermits, 30 assorted snails (4 turbos), 2 emeralds and lawnmower. They are cleaning up but the lawnmower is taking HUGE dumps and its just sitting on the sand. How do I handle it?

Starfish and Sea Cucumbers do a great job cleaning up the sand bed. You just need to add a couple extra inverts to your clean up crew.

Don't get a sand sifting star. They only survive in captivity if you have a HUGE system.

Neither should be introduced at this time. Both require established tanks with tons of live rock. It is also a myth that they eat detrius.

Nassarius snails are sand bed snails, I'm not sure if they eat poop, but they will keep the sand overturned on the top. It is neat to watch them appear out of the sand when you feed the tank. Your protein skimmer should take out any nitrates that the poop is putting in the tank. Try the snails.
