New to hobby, tank has been setup sincle two friday's ago, looking to get into some corals (specifically anemones and maybe some mushroom polyp ricordeas) and was wondering what kind of lights i need. Don't really know much of anything about lights right now, if some one could break-down the different types available and how they differ and how the wattage works in - that would be great help. Also, specifically for me, what i need. I have a 45 or 48 G deep show aquarium, 2 feet height, 3 feet wide.

most all corals and anything else will take ATLEAST 4watts per gallon. This is not the best way to know 100% for sure what you will need but it is a good rule thats been around for years..
4watts per gallon will not support sps or clams.. or other things that need super bright lights.. but most the soft corals will do fine.

I find this statement to be inaccurate based on my experience. Montipora, Hydnophora, and even birds nest can be kept under pc lighting if kept high in the tank. Corals adapt to their water conditions and I honestly believe flow and water quality are the most important aspects followed by lighting.
