i got a fluval 304, its way better then my emperor and less noisey. I have a lot of empty compartments. So far i have chemi-pure and nitrex(misspell?) from seachem. Anyone have any recommendations? i heard you can put bioballs it, is that true or worth getting?
thanks

Hey entice,
I have a Fluval 304 too. I run the foam pads that are a prefilter for the coarser dirt and then the Fluval bio-media. Occasionally I'll use some carbon, as needed. I lay the mesh bags of bio-media and carbon across the side-by-side compartments, filling two of them with each.

Ok this sounds like fun :)
Things you can run in a fluval:
1. Carbon
2. Ammonia absorb, chips, whatever
3. The bio matrix blocks that come with it.
4. Poly filter
5. Phosguard or other phosphate sponge.
6. Crushed coral if doing a substrate change
7. filter floss ( but not your old gym socks)
8. Live rock, hey why not.
9. Nitrate sponge.
10. Bio balls ( I suppose but why?)
Now my list of what not to run in a fluval is somewhat longer and I won't boar you with it.
