What type of star is this?

What type of star is this? Started out very small, but is growing pretty fast.

brittlestar. hit or miss on reef safeness once larger, they are opportunistic. "Green Deaths" are the worst variety though.

I just lost a beautiful purple fire fish. I think my red legged crab got that one. I would like to get the brittle star out. I rarely see it though. The crab is going back to the fish store. He has done in all but one snail and the other two crabs.
That one is black and tan..

it is a mini brittle star completly harmless detritivore. it is about maximum size.

+1 you are lucky to see it in it's full glory. Most often they hide in a rock somewhere and you just see the arms waving about trying to snatch some food from the water column.

+2 I have them and they have never hurt anything in my tank. Like they said you hardly ever see them. Mine just had babies.
