What was the hardest part in setting up your reef?
For me it is dealing with the lights!

Waiting was not a choice...that is the hardest part.

My tank is 3ft by 3ft by 18in with the overflow built in the center. I have three holes drilled in the overflow. One for a drain, one for a return and one is a dry line for the lights. I have a peice of pvc coming off the bulkj head fitting to the top of the overflow. There is run all the cords from end caps throught the center of the tank into the bottom of the stand( 360 degree angle with no wires showing). The hole is only 1in though. So imagin stuffing 6 sets of the coralife VHO end caps throught the hole with water running through the tank. IT REALLY SUCKED!!!! <img src="graemlins//yell.gif" border="0" alt="[yell]" />

Definetly the lighting.. replacing the hood.. buying the expesive PC lighting..

Hardest part for me was setting live rocks the way i wanted and later was aiming powerheads the way i wanted to beautify coral movement.
i hestitated and repeatedly moving my upper live rocks (a major mistake) trying to make it right, but always ending up causing scratches on my plexi tank when they fell.

I'd have to say the hardest part is planing. Plan everything out before ya start then following the plan is easy.

I agree, WAITING!!! That was the hardest part. The second hardest part was finding accurate information.

waiting for the tank to cycle and then you put the fish in....and BAM!!! they get ich and you have to go fishless for 30days...I have done this 3times now...finally invested in a Q tank so if it happens this time it won't be in my show tank..

$$$ for the l/r. and lighting. and having the wife complain about it. even though she kinda selectively forgets that i pay for the hobbies of the children.

my biggest problem was changing from cc to a dsb. that is a pain to do after you have some livestock and live rock.

I have to agree with the waiting part.. and not knowing where to get the right information in the first place. Trial and error!!!

patience is the hard part, money is too, but many of us have credit cards that help to curb that one, lol
however one good thing about the waiting, is that it does give you time to plan and replan and research and save a little more, but it is still IMO the hardest part by far!
