What got you interested in keeping SW aquariums? I remember being in Monaco at the aquarium and just saying to myself, "I gotta do that" Look at that tank of clowns, absolutely stunning.

Wow! That's amazing! Where is that?
My "inspiration" was my cousin's 20 gallon tank crashing, so he asked me if I wanted it! I took it and have been obsessed ever since :joy: I never actually thought about having one for some odd reason, but I'm glad he thought I would enjoy the hobby.

I got into the hobby from the fish's colors and shapes. Plus my uncle in maryland has a shack outside full of sw aquariums. his coolest fish's he had were some peranas (spelling is horrible) and some lion fish.

Monaco is actually a principality, but geographically it is located within France and is along the French Riviera. The land was once controlled by France until the 1860's, I believe don't quote me on that! And they speak French...

My inspiration was after a party, I went over my neighbor's house and he had a 110 gallon tank and I was just amazed by it. I was already planning on doing fw but that put me over the edge and I ended up doing sw and I'm loving every minute of it.

WOW! That clown tank is amazing!!!! They look like a bunch of bumble bees!
Well, I have had freshwater for about three years and last fall got some clown loaches. I loved them, but being new to clown loaches and the lfs not being honest with me, didn't realize my tank was way to small for two clown loaches. Well, after three weeks my tank had ich for the first time and I spent the next month treating my tank, only to lose both clowns and two harlequins. Well, I loved the clowns and after doing my own research realized I needed a much bigger tank, so I went shopping. I made the mistake of walking into a "saltwater fish only" store. The reason? They had lots of tanks, and I was just going to look at the tanks............. Well, they had this 300 gallon reef tank set up and I was mesmerized by it. Hubby and I got to talking and I started to do some research, that's when I found this site. Well, the rest as they say is history. Catch the rest of the story in my diary, on the photo forum. ***)

I was a senior in high school and for my bio 3 class, we had to create an ecosystem for an animal of some type as a year-long project. I already had firebellied toads so I was just going to bring them in, but my teacher had a 190-gallon (I think) saltwater tank in her home. She was recarpeting that room and was taking the tank down, and offered her livestock to anyone who wanted to do a salt tank for their project.
The school already had test kits, salt, the tank, crushed coral (yuck but it worked fine for fish-only) and everything we needed. My friend Sara and I did it, then quickly both set up our own tanks at home!

call me simplistic but my inspiration was quite simple. went something like......those saltwater fish over there are prettier than these freshwater ciclids I keep now. I think I'll do those instead.

When my daughter was born, she would stare at the bright fish in the doctors offices, so we got "her" a tank and have had one for almost five years..

Watson - Hm I'm not really sure how to describe where it was. Elevation wise, it was definitely above sea level. Here are some shots of the building and surrounding area if it helps you.
Ha, sorry it was a couple years ago. Not sure if you saw the Yellow Submarine or Octopuses' Garden but it was by there. (Yes I know those are Beatles' Songs, but they exist look!)

We pulled into the port in front of the Prince's Castle, so I think that we may have passed this place..We spent most of our time getting loaded, and I probably would not have made time for the aquarium..
