I've decided that I've got to have one, so I'll be setting up an old 120 long that I've had for about 20 years (I bought it used. *G*) I've heard their rep for eating their tank mates when they get big, so I will only keep it in the comuntiy tank (120 tall) until it gets about 3" long or so. I'll have to wait for SWF to get them in stock again before I get him. I refuse to buy fsh from any were else, so I'll have to wait. *sigh*
So what other fish should I think about? Other triggers, eels, lions? :happyfish

You are only going to keep it in the 120 until it gets to be 3" long? You will not have the clown trigger for very long then because you do not usually see them sold very smaller, and if you do, they are not very hardy at all.
As for tank mates, I would not think about lions, but other triggers would work okay (Humu Humu, Assasi, Rectangle), eels would be okay, a grouper would do well with him, and maybe a large tang (sohol)

Tank mates for a clown trigger? A demon maybe?
Can't think of anything much meaner (except maybe a queen trigger). My friend kept a clown trigger that flipped and killed all his fish. It then started chewing up heaters, overflow boxes, power heads etc. Beautiful fish, but they are psycho.

Must have been an evil clown trigger then, I know people who have kept them in reefs before. I guess its all about the personality of the fish.

The small size from SWF are just over 1" long, I would rather have a slightly larger one, but the price goes up a lot with a med. I plan on keeping it in 120 with my peaceful fish (tangs, angels and butterflys) then moving it to a 120 long when it starts getting big. I don't plan on getting rid of him when he gets big, heck that's when they start getting interesting!
