a yellow spot is a fairly good beginner. u would need a fairly large tank, what type of bamboo r we talkin? also get a skimmer rated for 2-3 times ur tank size to ensure maximum efficiency. sharks r messy eaters and sensitive to chemicals

your bamboo will nibble on your ray's a lot. i wouldn't do it again myself. triggers will eat on rays also as well as shark eyes.
this is a hard tank to put together. trex tried on a 5000gal and lost pretty much everything. this was 12" rays and 3' bamboos. a couple big triggers for a very short time.
better to do species tanks on either rays or sharks. i would take different sharks in one tank anyday over rays as they're good tank swimmers that can be mixed well. i wouldn't do under 1000 though.
keep in mind that you'll be feeding them better food than you get almost everyday. expensive seafood.
in my experience and opinion of course. do whatcha gotta do

i seriously beg to differ. i've seen it happen personally diving in a 5k tank.
could be size issues, ours were 3-4ft on 1ft circular dia. rays. they and possibly 2 puffers killed all 12 rays. we saw the bamboos eating the surely alive ray's edges, but suspected the puffers took the eyes of both sharks and rays. not that shark need their eyes at all, but the rays do.
this all happened fairly quickly in a couple/few months. i saw just about every day of it. unfortunately, i don't know anything about fish, i just worked there. so all the rays died. go rfcafe!!! go trexcafe!!!
:notsure:

what bamboos did you have that were that large? just curious,
i know of four people including mysefl that have and are currently keeping bamboo sharks and stingrays VERY successfully without any kind of nipping at the rays.. i find it very impossible since the rays never stop moving ( unless buried) which means the sharks would have to sneak up on them, which i also find hard to beleive since their discs are totally covered when they are buried m,aking it hard for a shark to find the adges..
i might be able to see if the ray is injured and dieng that the shark would eat some of it, but once again i dont find it very logical.
iw ould say you were one of the very few people that actually saw this happen, and i also think that somethign else was wrong before it started to happen i cant beleive that the sharkf or no reasonw ould be nipping the rays(unless the sharks werent fed in 2 months)
i can however beleive that the puffers tore thew rays apart single handedly
imn ot saying your lieng im justs ayign that sharks and stingrays can be kept together and this is the only experience i have ever heard that went wrong
