What would YOU say about this?!?!

I know that there has been a post about this before, but none of the replies seemed to really answer the question very much. I just started my tank over after a total wipeout, making srue that everything was in working order. I just got my new fish, but I hadn't gotten any cleaner type stuff (i.e. shrimp, crabs, snails) or anything because the store was out. They now have a new shipment in, and I was going to get a shrimp I think. Would I need to Qt it to make sure that I don't wipeout my tank again, or would the shrimp more than liekly be alright, and I can just stick it in the main tank? Please let me know!!!

Is your shop QT it's stock? If so then what do you gain by doing it again?
What are you going to do with it in a QT tank? Are you going to treat all your stock in a QT tank with as many treatments as you can for things you cannot see? Or are you just going to use it as an observation tank for several weeks to see if anything develops?
I think QT tanks have less use for reef tanks than for fish only tanks, and good and bad points in general, but given the facilities I would QT everything before I put it into any display tank.

I got some kind of damsel, the store wasn't even sure what it was (should have known right then not to get it) and when I brought it home, within about 2 days it had killed my other two fish and itself with what I think was white velvet. I checked it before I brought it home, that is why I was so very surprised that it was sick, and I it spread too quickly to treat, by the time I knew what I had, the fish were all dead.
