Whats a good heater ?

I bought a Whisper Tetra submersible heater, (100 watts) for a 20 gallon long tank ... Is this a good enough heater for this tank?
Thanks,

Should be. It really depends on what your room temps are during winter months. You don't want too large of a heater b/c it will kick on and off more often causing it to wear out quicker.

I have long felt that tetra or even Pen Plax have been ok for fresh water tanks, and some of there products have been really poor and cheaply made. They make an alright heater ( just beware of brittle glass) but Ebo's or better yet Won heaters are much better.
The won is made of titanium so no danger of breakage.
Just my 2 cents

Visatherm have been pretty good to me thus far (and economical). Just remember to unplug them and wash them off when you do water changes. Like thomas said, metal heaters are less likely to break and are generally better quality overall.

I really like the Tronic heaters. My 200W heater is 3 years old and still works like a champ. I use the heater guard also.

I'm cycling a 100-gal with a 200-watt Won in it right now, and so far it's kept the tank spot-on at 79 deg. I have another 200-watt that is going in the sump as soon as I have the last shipment of rock in and can determine the final water level and start the overlow, but it looks like I could get by with the single heater if I wanted to and not have any temp issues. I'd definitely recommend them.

sounds like it will do the job in a 20 gal. Only thing is the consistancy of water temp. In my opinion thats where you can tell the difference between a good heater and an okay heater. Personally I am a fan of Ebo Jagers.
