What would be a good sand sifter for a 10g reef tank?
I currently have:
1 green cromis
3 turbo margareta snails
3 nassarius snails
3 holloween hermits
will be getting 2morro:
4 nassarius snails
4 astrea snails
4 cerith snails
1 cleanner shrimp
I need the sifter to clean up my sand bed a little more I have hair algae growing in my sand like grass, plus I have some ditiams(spelling?).
Thanks

Your nass snails should do the job. After you get this next batch of cleaners see how they do. If it is still not enough get 3 or 4 more nass.

7 nassarius snails in a 10 gallon? maybe more?...I think you have to many in a 10 already, try a SMALL sand sifting goby, there are a number to choose from.

IMO there isn't one as a sand sifter will die of starvation in this size tank.
Really....so you think a 10g is too small for any type of sand sifter?
Just curious (cause I don't have a 10g) but would like to know...

Sand sifters rely on the flora and fauna in the sandbed to live on. I don't care how old this tank gets it will not support a sifter. IMO worrballer has the right idea here. This is a relatively new tank.

Diatoms will go away as the tank matures, the algae is a result of nutrient and light. Again I agree with worrballer here.
Just an old man throwing something to think about out there. In the end this is katsafados tank and he will choose where he goes with it.
