I ran across this FDA site today. It lists the allowable levels of defects in foods for human consumption (e.g. number of insect parts, maggots, or rodent hairs). :scared:
Some scary ones:
Hops: Average of more than 2,500 aphids per 10 grams
Mushrooms: Average of over 20 or more maggots of any size per 100 grams of drained mushrooms
Ground Pepper: Average of 475 or more insect fragments per 50 grams

The rodent filth in 50% of popcorn really got me! ***)
I love how everything is labeled an "aesthetic" significance.
Oh well, we have to remember that nowadays everything will kill us one way or another. Does that make anyone feel any better? lol

We should be eating more and more organic produce rather than all that processed food infested with chemicals, growth hormone and anti-biotics.

Yeah I remember an article awhile back that stated how much rat droppings was allowable in syrup. I said none but the FDA thinks differently.

I recently saw a report on the news that any chicken sold at the stores and restaurants contains low levels of arsenic. The arsenic is added to the feed given to the chickens before slaughter to prevent disease. The FDA knows about this and claims it is a low level that is unharmful to humans. They then interviewed a toxicologist who stated that there is NO level of arsenic that is unharmful to humans!! According to this report, Tyson is the only company whose chicken is arsenic- free. Hey kids lets go to Mc Donald's and get some arsenic nuggets, scary stuff!! :scared:

If you get a chance, watch the movie "Supersize Me." You will never look at fastfood the same.
