I ran across this FDA site today. It lists the allowable levels of defects in foods for human consumption (e.g. number of insect parts, maggots, or rodent hairs). :scared:
Some scary ones:
Hops: Average of more than 2,500 aphids per 10 grams
Mushrooms: Average of over 20 or more maggots of any size per 100 grams of drained mushrooms
Ground Pepper: Average of 475 or more insect fragments per 50 grams
