What's In Your Tank?

Help me decide...I'm still trying to figure out what I want to put in my 16 gal. bow front.
If you have a similar size tank, I'm interested to hear what fish, inverts and corals you have. How are they doing and how do you like them? Pics would be great too!
THANKS!!!

Well...my tank currently has a pair of clowns and a couple cleaner shrimp. All four of them are full of personality. Very entertaining to watch! :)

I was just thinking...I can't believe even Lefty hasn't responded. You're usually all over these nano posts!
Good to hear from you! Glad your tank is doing well!
I was originally going to go with a pair of clowns, but not sure if I want something that "common". They are a lot of fun to watch, so I will probably come back to them. I was just trying to get some other ideas to consider.

I'm flattered!
I feel very lucky to have discovered this site that has allowed my tank to be successful thus far (knock on wood).
Well, one thing I've learned about this hobby is there's absolutely nothing common about it. I'll bet you I'm one of the only people for miles that has a saltwater tank, so anything I have in it I consider to be unique. But, if you're going for uniqueness (is that a word?), how about a Black Clown Goby? That will be one of the other two fish I'll eventually purchase. I'm also getting a Firefish. I love those little guys! :) If you really wanted to be unique, you could go for a purple firefish. :D

Valid points on the uniqueness (yes, I think it's a word) factor.
I've been considering the clown gobies, but kind of leaning towards the citron coloration. I want my tank to be as colorful as possible!
I also do like the firefish. Do you happen to know if the goby and the firefish would do ok together?
That leaves room for (maybe) one more small fish. Any more ideas?

The goby and firefish should be just fine together. You should only be concerned with compatibility if they both are of the same species. :)
I think three fish would be a good number for your 16g. The Citron and Firefish are both relatively small fish (getting to 2 and 2.5 inches max, respectively). As for the third fish...hmm. There are a whole bunch of other gobies that would do well in your tank, but I'm not sure if you'd want an all-goby tank. Some other ideas would be a Barnacle Blenny, Yellowhead Jawfish, or a Black-Lined Blenny. The only thing about the Jawfish is that he'll need at least four inches of sand with some coral rubble. They really like to burrow. Also, you'd need to watch out for jumping. :)

You might be able to get away with a six line wrasse, they are very personable. If you really like gobies, a neon goby is supposed to be very fun to watch. With a tank that size the most color is going to have to come from you coral. I'll second leftys suggestion about the jawfish, you need a very tight fitting lid, they are notorious jumpers, and very timid. But they are so fun to watch.

I'm definately only getting 2 - 3 fish max, and I need to find ones that aren't jumpers because I'm having a hard time finding a glass top for my tank because it is a small bowfront.
I don't know why, but I've never been too crazy about the jawfish. I do like all the gobyies though, and wouldn't even mind having an all goby tank as long as they looked different.
So the firefish and the citron goby would be ok together, but would a neon goby work with them?
Now, the only other thing was I thought I read somewhere that the gobies aren't big swimmers. Is that true? I just don't want three fish that just sit around the tank all day. lol

Yep. All three of those gobies are of different species.
A lot of the gobies are known for being "sand dwellers", but the three you're interested in aren't like that. I know for sure that the Neon Goby is pretty active. I don't think that will be a concern. :)

Cool! Just got back from my LFS and they actually have a Citron Goby. Didn't get to see him though, he is in a huge tank with a bunch or corals and other stuff, so I couldn't find him.
So far, I think I will end up going for the Citron, a firefish, and a neon goby.
They had a sweet little 6 line wrasse, he was less than 1 inch, but I'm afraid I would be stretching it to put him in my tank. Any idea how quick he would grow?

Can't help you with that one. You might need to post it in the New Hobbyists section. :)

I feel like that one guy on Jeopardy who finally lost. =P
Glad I could help! I'm not necessarily a smartiepants, but I am a researchaholic. :D
I just found a site that has a bunch of nudibranch pictures. If you'd like to give me your email, I could send you the link. It may help you determine which species you were looking at and perhaps learn a bit more about them at the same time. :)
