I have a 29 gallon tank. With one clownfish in it. The clownfish has been in the tank for a week now. The tank has been set up for 3 weeks. What is my next step. What type of fish should I add next. I have 3 scarlet hermits no snails yet. I have alot of algae but it is looking better everyday after I added the phosphate pad. I am now using RO water from wal-mart for my top offs and water changes. HOw long should I wait to add any more fish or shrimps or cleanerss???? I have no corals yet when can I start adding them to the tank. I am going to start with some mushrooms. Any other suggestions also... Thanks alot. I need help!!!

What you need to do next is slow down and just enjoy your tank for a while. Rushing into things and not waiting just makes for heartache in the end. Let the tank establish itself and wait until the algae gets under control. Then concentrate on getting you water where it needs to be if you are planning on keeping corals. Make sure you calcium, alkalinity, and pH are all stable. Then in a month and a half or two months add some shrooms and maybe another fish and see how everything goes. Patience is the key to this hobby and you will be far more happy with the results if you wait rahter then adding things now. By the way, what type of lighting do you have?

As mentioned be patient...and read all the material you can get your hands on. Best bet is to let your system develope at its own pace.....and develope it slowly....check the links below for additional info on developing a marine system...and good luck.

At least 4 weeks between fish additions. Corals may be added when you have all your water levels stable and in the proper zones.

Should I be adding any type of additives to my water. I will be ordering a reef test kit soon.. It is by Red Sea lab. It has a calcium, phosphate, and nitrate kit. Has anyone used this kit??
