whats on my tang?

just scraped hair algea of my side glass and noticed black spots like spores sticking to my yellow tang a half hour after i did it.

fresh water dip cures it.

it is what we call black ich. as stated, a freshwater dip would remove it from the fish. i don't feel that this is necessary yet, especially since this won't remove it from your system anyway. are there any other tangs in the tank?

Be carefull dipping your salt water fish in fresh water. It may cause pop-eye which if untreated will eventually kill your fish.
