You shouldn't need to add anything during a cycle. Water changes take care of that.
You also should never add anything without testing for it first. Otherwise, you could be giving too much of something.
In my reef, I rarely add anything at all and I have tons of corals and inverts. Check levels all the time and they are all fine. Regular water changes give me all the stuff my tank needs.
