I have two hang on filters. What is so good about the canister filters? When do I need to look into getting one?

you really don't have to if your gonna have a reef you could have the tank filtered by live rock,protein skimming, and a good sand bed.
i don't have any hang on, cannister, or anything else, just live rock a deep sand bed and good protein skimming with a high water flow thru a sump and refuge.

HEy sebae thanks for the reply. COuld you tell me a little bit more about a refuge and a sump? I have had my tank for almost a year now but I have never understood what the purpose of them are and stuff.. thanks.. ME
