the gulf-stream II has the most flow. The ecomod has the least and sureflow isn't quite as much as the gulf-stream II. I would use them with the maxi-jet 900's because they run on less then half the wattage and aren't that big of a difference in gph from the 1200's.

Your question is a little confusing. Will two 400's help with what? Are you asking whether two 400's with the mod will give enough flow? If that is the question, i would say it depends on the size of your tank. I have two MJ400's with the algae free mod. It is plenty of flow for my 55 gallon tank. I also got the algae free magnets. You theoretically don't have to use the magnets, but the alternative is to use the suction cup installation that comes with the powerhead. The suction cups will eventually get brittle and the pump will break free from the side of the tank. If it ends up pointing up, you will have water everywhere. The magnets are expensive, but well worth it for the stability.

yea, they would definitely help. I would buy the magnets, the suction cups on the maxi-jets don't last long and you will eventually end up with a sand storm in your tank.

I was wondering about the eco mj mod size. they say it work on any mj from 400-900? So will a 400 push as much as a 900 then?

I have two 900 and 1 400 laying around, so if i put the mods on them will they all push the same?

The 400 won't push as much water as the 900, not sure how much of a difference there is though.

The algae free mod fits 400, 600, 900, and 1200. It comes with two props. The small prop will work on all four sizes. However, you can replace the small prop with the large one (comes with the mod kit) if you are using a 1200. I was using the small prop with my 1200. I can't imagine the massive flow you would get with the big prop.
Where do you get them: Do a google search for algae free mod kit. Can't post competing sites here. Don't know whether this site carries them.
This is the only mod that i've tried, so can't compare it to others. However, I have been happy with this mod. It was a little (I emphasize very little) noisy at first, but now runs silent.
