Go to yer local Store, see wat they got ther for u. If the stuff yer using is all they have, then try this. I use "Seachem" marine Buffer. It raises and maintains pH at a level of 8.3 It's good stuff. easy to use to, like most buffers. If yer totally freaking though, grab a pH probe. theyre $$$$, but they work.

You need to check your alk levels and maybe calcium if you are having trouble with pH.
If you have been adding buffer then definitley check the alk (dkh) level first.
Your tank is cycled right?

Using additives to raise PH is almost always a bad idea. What is your PH at the end of the day just before the lights go out? How old is your tank? Do you have a skimmer? How's your water flow?
You NEED a Ca test kit IMO. I would guess that you have overdosed ALK.

i've just ben adding marine supper buffer dkh. i tested the PH at 11:30 am after the lights were on for only an hour. water flow is low i have the filter and a maxi-jet 1200 power head for water flow, no skimmer at this point. tank is a month and a half old. and has cycled a little over 2 weeks ago. if i re test at night levels should be higher?

It should matter as long it doesn't go beyond 8.4 it should be okay most of the saltwater can handle it.

I would reccomend a calcium test kit as well. I use the Red Sea test kit and really like it. Calcium and PH seem to work together. If calcium is really high then PH tends to drop and vice versa. If you use RO/DI water then you may need buffer in your make up water to boost the PH up above about 8.0
I really like Seachems's Reef complete for calcium, stronium, and magnesium dosing.
