Whats the best way to get Coraline to grow??

I have bought about 40-50 lbs of live rock from my LFS for my 55 gallon tank, and just under 10 lbs for my 20 gallon nano, and i have not seen any coralline algae growing yet. They all have it when i buy it, but i guess it must be dead already. Anyone know of a quick way to get some established? I have seen people advertise the scrapings from their tanks on ---- for about 5 dollars, but haven't heard any success stories yet. Also i have bought some of the "reef essentials," which i was told was suppose to help. If anyone can help please let me know! Thanks!!
