I personally leave the "g's" off when I talk. It's just hard to pronounce the "G" at the end of everything. When I write, I try to be formal... but even then I use slang sometimes.
I can't believe the huge deal the press is making of how AP transcribed Obama's speech.

It sounded to me in his speech that he actually did leave off the "g's". So, in that case, its a straight up quote.

I agree... I never heard the "g's" either. I just can't believe the big deal that people are making out of it!!!

The big deal is that instead of trying to raise the standards of his his uneducated audience, he is lowering his own standards. I get that he want to "relate" to them and speak their language, but if that were acceptable, then there's really no reason for English teachers because this language has no set standards, and we can simply make it whatever we want.
He is the leader of our country! Anything he does that leans toward LAZY is wrong. Anything ANYONE does that leans toward lazy is wrong, but people choose their own paths.
If this forum allowed us ro bestow reputation points upon one another, I would drop some on you. You go girl!!!

That's an interesting point of view... but the press is not making a big deal of how his actual speech, the press is making a big deal of how AP transcribed it.
Is the last sentence your post towards me? You would put reputation points upon me? And I am a guy not a girl!!!

His naked pandering is a sign of his desperation to get any kind of traction. The polls, according to Dick Morris, shows that he is losing 60%-40%. All the groups that went crazy for him have turned, except the black vote which still support him at 88%. That is why he desperately is trying to show he is "one of them". A little off topic: It is bizarre he is polling behind in the generic poll, but still polls as winning 52%-48% over the strongest polling Republican-Rick Perry.

No no, you got it all jumbled up...
That "quote" wasn't in reference to the press or the AP. I had quoted your post #4, then replied with that.
