I have one in my 29. He seems really happy. But I dont know the minimum
Will a 30 gallon tank be ok for 1 maroon clown fish? Here are the dimensions of the 30 gallon tank 19 inches high, 30 inches long, and 12 1/2 inches wide.
my lfs has a pair in a 12 gallon, they have been in the tank for 3 years and are about an inch maybe an inch and a half but they have an 8 year old maroon in a 180 ( i think) an its huge like 5 or 6 inches, i think it will outgrow the 30 gallon but i htink it will take a ong time for him to do so
IMO 1 maroon in a 30 is doable. But thats all I wouldnt recomend any other fish to be added. Things would be over crowded with adding a second fish and most likley the clown fish will be extremley territorial and would prob kill other fish that gets added.
Ok. I'm probably going to add one or two more with the maroon in the 30 gallon, the fish I was thinking about was like some kind of shrimp goby or a blenny and a dwarf angel, thats it. What do you guys/gals think?
IMO as far as keeping them comfortable...NO its too much. Biologically and mechanically can it work? Im sure it can your maintancence on the tank will be more but you can do it. Providing the clown doesnt stake the whole tank as his and be aggressive to everyone.
I don't have a maroon, but I do have a black clown in my 30 cube. In that tank I have a huge sebae anemone, the size of a very large dinner plate. That is the only combo I have had in there for 2 years. I just added a jaw fish the other day. Oh and 2 shrimp. The clown doesn't leave the anemone for nothing other then to try and bite me when I am doing the maintenance. But they seem very happy in there. I know maroons get a lot bigger tho.
I would think you are total fine tho....
i wouldnt go with a dwarf angel in a 30g...i know some sites say that they can go in there but they need lots of liverock to pick at and i dont think that a 30g would have enough...for a dwarf angel i would recomend at least a 50g with 75lbs of rock...
i dont think that woul;d be pushing it to much, 4 fish and the largest is the maroon and the rest are fairly smaller fish, for the goby you might want to go with a neon goby, or a cleaner shrimp, my maroons like the goby not the shrimp
