Hello,
I haven't been on here for awhile. My tank has been coming along very nice for those of you who have helped me in the past. Tonight I found something curious in my tank. It was in the sand with around 20 tentacles sticking out. Does anyone know what it is? I don't want to kill it if it isn't going to hurt anything but I'm a bit nervious about putting it back in the tank.

Yep that is a spaghetti worm. I have a ton in my tank, in the sand bed and the live rock. Very very helpful for the tank.

It's not a Spaghetti Worm (Terebellid sp.) It's a very close relative though. It's called a Hair Worm. Hair Worms (Cirratulid sp.) are very beneficial in sand beds. They can consume detritus from both above the sand bed like a Spaghetti Worm and from below the sand bed as well. This makes them one of the most beneficial of all the Bristle Worms in my opinion.
