What's with snails?

Alright, so I had to move on saturday morning and I took most of the water out of my tank but left some in. The sand got shook some so on sunday I started to get a diatom bloom again. Fast foward to today and it's all over my tank.
What the hell is with my snails? They haven't been doin crap. I got 10 astrea snails and they haven't even bothered to touch the sand bed yet. What's with this? It seems like they work for 3 days sometimes and take a break for 3 days. Do they get full or what? I want this diatom clean because I just bought two new corals on saturday night and don't want them to get ruined.

Well they ain't movin. They been in the same spot since this morning. They aren't dead because they're suctioned. Ugh. This is frustrating. Are diatoms harmful to my corals?
