What's with the bubbles???

I've had my 55 for a couple weeks, it's unofficially cycled, but i'm not going to put anything in for another week or two. Anyway, I have millions and millions of tiny little bubbles all over my tank that really affect the water quality to me. In the dark the tank is crystal clear, but with the lights on you can see all the bubbles. What's wrong?? I'm running a h-o-t filter and 2 powerheads, but they are set for no bubble output.

It has to be coming from either your filter or your powerheads.
First the poweheads should be pushed all the way under the water so no air could be getting to the intake, also sometimes the powerheads come with a venturi hook up, which is usually a tube that sucks air into the intake, be sure that is no hooked up.
2nd- what type of HOT filter do you have, if it is a cannister type filter, then you need to take it apart and put it back together making sure it is all tight because it might be sucking in air somewhere, if it is a powerfilter type filter then that is probably not causing the problem.
Other than that I am not sure where it could be coming from.

I have a millenuium fiter that has a wet/dry element and a carbon filter. with the wet/dry element there are air intakes that bubble profusely for maximun bacteria growth. could that be the source?

I also have a millineum filter. Does your's have a blue tab that sticks up on top? If so push it all the way down, this prevents air from being sucked in and released into the tank. Sounds like your definitely getting air released from somewhere.

This is going to sound silly but I had the same problem when I set up my tank the first time, and I got rid of them by physically wiping them off my glass with my hand, you may want to use a cloth or some sort of tank cleaning tool.
The bubbles have never returned ever since I did that. I have since then, transported my tank on two diffrent occasions to another state, and both times, no bubbles. I'm failry certain that the newness of the tank is the main cause although I can't give you a scientific expination and Id only be speculating if I even tried.
Try it, it worked for me.
