Whats Wrong With My SeaClown?

I don't know...Everyone told me this wouldn't happen...
I'm basicly a laid back person and not into doing anymore then I have to, so when I read all the reviews about SeaClown skimmers and how they don't work and won't pull anything out of my tank, I thought "Great Thats the skimmer for me" "I'll never have to waste any time cleaning it."
So when I found one in the Discount Bin at the LFS for $10.00 I thought "Great,Cheap AND Superficial" I can relate...
So I bring it home and hook it up and I'm thinking "I got three days to at least a week for it to 'break in' befor I even have to look at it again.
About six hours later it started doing this...

And to top it off IT WON'T QUIT!!!!!
Look at this junk... It just keeps bubbling up and filling the cup with dark brown yucky stuff...
I had to empty it twice already!!!
Maybe I need to "adjust" it some more...

I wouldn't be unhappy with its performance. Obviously its removing a lot of organic solids from your tank that would otherwise have a negative effect on the system. I have a seaclone 150 and it works pretty well. I know there are a lot better skimmers, but for the price it works fine.

I agree that's fine. If you just added it, then there would be a build-up of proteins and gunk in the water already. A good skimmer would go nuts at first in this case. Mine bubbles and overflows like a mother at times, but doesn't froth much at times when the water's perfect. The more gunk you get, the more you can be happy with its outcome.

squidd,
The problem is not that they don't work. They just don't work very long. I think primarily when you have it hob you have to clean the power head, sponge and U tube like every 4 days to keep it working. Mine works much better in sump.

Squidd...most didn't understand your sarcasim...I did.
SeaClone skimmers skim as they are intended...whether or not they skim to ones expectations is the ones problem...not the Seaclone....they do not "stop" working...they perform as they were intended...they make bubbles...hopefully crap adheres to the bubbles and floated to the top and burst...sometimes stuff dont always adhere to the bubbles...but the seaclone still makes its bubbles and the bubbles still go to the top...as it was intended...
If someone wants a skimmer to put more bubbles, flow and performance in their system...then they need to spend more cash and hopefully try and get one that does above what it was intended to do...
