Whats your favorite rock to use?

I'm just trying to start an open conversation to help consumers decide on what rock to maybe consider for their tanks.

There are a lot of choices out there these days. I've seen a lot of videos on different types of rock... and a lot of it is linked to availability as well.

So what are you using in your tanks? Why? Is it easy to stack? Is it easy to modify?

Lets see how many types of rock I can think of...

Caribbean live rock / base rock
Pukani
Tonga Branch
Tonga Shelf
BRS Reef Rock (dry base)
Texas Holy Rock
Lace rock
etc...

I have both reef saver from aquacave and from reefcleaners and then some dense rock from a brick and morter store.
I prefer the one from reefcleaners so far. It is even more holey than the aquacave and it makes for great hiddy holes and even tunnels for my little critters.

I use three different types of rock. Dry lace rock, figi (I agree with trigger on that one. Not much life but good bacteria. It helped to cycle my tank in about 3 weeks.) And of course my DIY rock that I used for a good base, shelves for corals and tunnels. I'm getting good coralline algae growth on all three.

If I explained it all it would need it's own thread. Oh wait! It does have it's own thread. Well, kind of. I go into detail in my "silverado61's 72g tank and stand build". Which I really need to update. A lot has happened to the display since my last post.

The DIY rock section starts on page three.

I think if Ozzy Osbourne, Kizz, even Led Zeppelin can have a comeback concert, many in fact, that I'm entitled to one. o_O Hmmm?

Think of all those years you waited for Tiny Tim to have a comeback tour. Oh wait, your too young to remember him. :(

I love the branch rock because I have a 56g tall tank, and the lace rock just looks awesome ... I have lots of Fiji rock, it's good, full of nooks and crannies and I like it, but the others I like more for how they look. I hand picked every rock I have, and never purchased in bulk.
