once you go MH you will not want anything else. They are the absolute best lighting you can get. once you see your tank lit up in HAlide lighting you will not want anything else.

Another vote for MH here. I switched from PC to MH about 6 months ago and haven't looked back yet. If MH didn't exist, I would probably go with T5 or VHO.

Probably someone that hasn't experienced a MH on their own. :D

While I prefer MH without a chiller I would have to run PC's as the MH produce way too much heat to run without one. Also can be a challenge to place certain low light corals under the MH so if you want a low light tank PCs or standard 40w are better. All depends on what you are trying to do.

Someone who can't afford MH and doesn't want a fixture that hangs from the ceiling.

 Low light corals don't like MHs :)
I have a 400 watt MH over my 20gal frag tank and I don't need a chiller. I have a nice big fan keeping the water from overheating. Same effect as a chiller, but a lot cheaper. The tank stays at a constant 79F.

Do you have a cap for your tank? If so, is the top of the cap covered? If so, you can cut a hole large enough for the light to shine through. I am sure one can find a way to set the light up on top of it. If without a cap, one would have to hang it from the ceiling. That is what I did. I made my own hood and bout all the components seperately. I put it all together and saved a few bucks in the process.
My boss told me once that I should hold off and buy what I really want. At the time, I didn't listen. I bought PCs. Great for softies and very few hards. I wish I would have held off until I saved the money for MHs for the display. I am currently saving money for that and will eventually get MHs for my display. It gives me far more options in what I can have in the tank.

No, I have a 55 gal with a glass top. My CSL fixture has legs and sits nicely on the tank. I don't keep anything that requires more than the 260 watt light. Plus the Moonlights are great.
