"What's your tank worth?" !!!!!!

Dude,
This is what you wrote: theres a lesson in this... next time you go to start yourself a tank, come to swf.com and let the low balls begin. Never hurts to try right? Id rather try and get flamed 50 times and end up with one really good deal than sit there with a 6000 dollar system like yourself and have nothing to do with it. Just my 2cents. I wont even pretend that I dont bargain on this site. Why not?
That is what I was going on! You pretty much said what you said. You stated that you would try and get flammed 50 times and end up with a good deal than spend what I spent on my system. Did you not read what you wrote. I never came off harsh, YOU did! I will admit the "Cranky Pants" was hilarious, I got a good laugh out of that one. Too funny. I never questioned what or where you spend your time. I was poking at you to state that you should have read what you wrote clearly. To me it seemed as if you were smacking me for spending what I spent on "my" equipment, corals and such. I have seen good deals and jumped on them, but never tried to get them down lower or tell them, "Yes" I will take it then disapear and never respond to them.
Happy New Year!

Refugiums, etc....Don't have a clue and the books I'm reading don't have a chapter on all that??!! Birdman77520....in Beautiful Downtown Baytown, Texas!! :happyfish

well looking at over all cost and time spent (built my own stand and so forth)
as a carpenter I bill out at about 45$ an hour. so with about 12 hours into my stand thats a 540$ stand. AG 75g fistank dont remember I'll call it 120$ 30 gallon AG sump custom modified 3 hours call it 140$. coralife superskimmer $220 (overpaid I know) lights $700 too many types to list. return pump 85$, powerhead 3@29.99 2@19.99 1 powersweep (garbage) 25.99. 3 heaters 19.99, 100 lbs of live rock priced from 4.99lb to 7.99lb i'll call it 5.99 average due to amounts at different prices so $600.00 all live sand 50.lbs (got a bunch free so I wont include it) 39.99 a bag. various corals about $2000.00
(not counting swaps) (i'm also not including the price of any equipment it took me to get to this point just this one tank) and much more. I would say this tank has cost me about $5000 all together Imagine how much more it would have cost me if I hadn't been fraggin for stuff to sell for store credit.

Flame all you want, but I see nothing wrong with a counter offer. All you have to do is say no. It's how much you want/need the money or space. People do it to Sinner all the time when he's selling car stuff or even the business product! We have a listed price, but people will say, I only have XXX. Chances are, we'll give it to them for that price (still knew and sitting up a consumer base-word of mouth is most important right now). We have a set of seats and some other stuff, make an offer, no matter how low ball, and they are gone! (assuming somone picked them up or paid shipping) Why? we want the room and don't want to move them. But Sinner puts a price and OBO (or best offer) to lets them know he's willing to go down.
Sinner bought his car for $200 because the guy's wife wanted it out of the yard. You can bet Sinner haggled to get the price low and he waited and watched! Then Sinner turned around and sold the fuel cell and some other things from the car and made $$.
Sounds smart to me.
If you know what you have is worth xx, and you don't mind waiting till you get xx, then in your post say you aren't willing to haggle, say you're firm on the price. Lots of people ask more than something is worth so they can go down in price. Just think about buying cars and such. Would you walk up and pay the sticker price for a car? No, you'd haggle, you'd walk away, make a counter offer, ask for something thrown in to get the best deal you could.
Sinner bought me an xbox360 game CHEAP because the guy needed the cash. It goes for $49 used (I think) at Gamestop and he got it and another game for $24 shipped off that big site.

I honestly think low price to a great home, if I had to.
agreed! my stars are free to a good home, sure I might be able to a couple dollars for them if I tried, but I don't want money, I just want them to find a good home (otherwise they'll end up at the lfs-which is a scary thought!). CC's on sale for 9.99 and green brittle for 11.99 on this site. so I'm sure mine are worth that.
