When adding top off

Do you pour your top off directly into your tank or do you mix it with some of the tank water first before pouring it in there? How do you know when your not going to lower the salinity level?
I usually add a little until I see the level go back to where it is but I think this is too risky

I pour mine into the sump....I have a line that I always keep the water level up to.
Supposedly salt does not evaporate, so your sg should be ok.

+1 Add mine to the sump. Salt does not evaporate so you are actually bringing the salinity back in line by adding top off water.
Was watching a friends tank once and did some testing when I first got there and found salinity at 1.034. I called and asked what had happened and after a 15 min conversation found out she had been topping off with salt water rather than fresh water which had caused the salinity to skyrocket. Needless to say, waterchanges were in my future for that week to try to get the tank back in line.

if you do not have a sump just add freshwater to the tank.
hopefully you use ro/di water though

Set yourself up an ATO (auto topoff system). You will never have to worry about it again....

I just try to add the top off water into a high flow area. I don't have a sump so I usually just dump it into my filter.
