when do i need a chiller

Right now I have 260w of pc. I am thinking of adding a 400w 20k metal halide. Do I need to add a chiller also?:notsure:

I depends on if the tank gets to hot. There is no way to know for sure if you will need one or not. I can tell you that I run 2-400w MH with 220w of VHOs in a 110g and I do not have a chiller...

Yeah, you'll just have to see. I have 2 400w 20k bulbs with no atinics over my 75 and even with fans and no glass tops, I have to run one to keep my temp below 83 (I keep the tank 80-82)

SOOOO many variables to consider there. Even things like whether you have A/C, how hot your place gets in the summer, whether you've tried other methods (eg evaporational cooling just using fans), etc.

I hate the sound of my fans. the next big step for me will be a chiller. sugestions welcome.

My tank has been doing pretty good without a chiller or heater
for a while now but i only have 2/65W PC's
I got a couple tank raised clowns and they r the hardiest fist i've had so far. I keep it between 80 -82 90% of the time

Thank you for your replies. I guess i'll just wait till I have the money for a chiller to get the MH just in case I do need it.
