When do I need a new light

I have a 48" light in my 55 gallon FO tank. I was just wondering if I am supposed to replace the light every once in a while or if it is good until it burns out?

i read somewhere that you should replace a light every 6 months month to maintain good lighting because your old lights would fade. good lighting will keep your reef, fish and tank looking good

Hey,
If you have lr in your tank and would like to get coraline to grow it would be a good idea to change the bulb. I have a reef tank, but even if it was FO I would have at least two bulbs on it. One actinic and one full spectrum. The colors of your fish will be much nicer. Just my .02
