When do you go to heaven?

Two people have said it is debatable, but i've always thought the Bible says you go to heaven on Judgement day, but others think you go right away.
Any quick references showing either way?

this is why i think its at judgement day:
When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and He will put the sheep at his right hand and the goats at the left. Then the king will say to those at His right hand, “Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was

[hr]
and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” ... “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”
Then He will say to those at His left hand, “You that are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me,

[hr]
and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.” ... “Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.” And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. (Matthew 25:31-36, 40-43, 45-46 NRSV)

are these just the living, or the dead as well?

I've always assumed those were the "raptured" people. The dead people have already been processed and sent wherever they go.

I had a lady at my church that was telling me that all the people who have died go to paradise until the rapture happens, then everyone goes to heaven.
I do now believe this view at all, doesnt make any sense to me.......
(Just throwing out an idea i've seen from someone else.)
I think that you immediately go to heaven or the other place, no waiting in between( why would god need you to wait? He controls time, and in heaven there is no concept of time IMO, Its not like theres going to be 3 people waiting to talk to him in front of you!)

I have some personal feelings about the subject that doesn't really have much to do with the bible. My mom passed away in March, and I feel like she, in a sense, stuck around for just a bit to let her loved ones know she is ok. I dream about her almost every night, and my most recent dream was of me crying and asking her to stay, and her telling me she wishes she could stay, but couldn't. There was a sense of calm about her. So I think that they choose when to move on.

Doesn't the bible state "he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead"?
Maybe our spirits stay earthbound until judgement day.

I don't think I ever saw where the bible EVER mentions us going to heaven. Eternal life is actually the promise. I think Earth will become as EDEN. I think the dead are waiting for that time just as the living.

that's what i always thought, but i know people are alwyas saying "oh, they are in a better place (meaning heaven)" and other stuff like that, meaning people are already going to heaven...but if everyone stays in their corpse until judgement day, that is going to be one stinky day...

You will goto heaven upon death. ( Only if you have accepted Jesus Christ to be your LORD and Saviour whom died on the cross and rose again)
Their is no purgatory. The rapture is a different story altogether.

At death.
On the cross, Jesus told the thief being crucified with Him "Verily I say unto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in paradise."
Doesn't get any more clear than that.
(Luke 23:43)

I find it interesting how the majority of the Christain world is white and the non Christain world is darker skinned and according to some if you don't accept Jesus as your savior you go to hell? So I guess, most whites go to heaven and most non whites go to hell...if there is indeed a god, is it fair to assume it thinks less of non whites since the majority of them will go to hell?

You didn't even answer the question, therefore your silly post carries no weight whatsoever.

If you're comfy with your church condemning most the world to hell that's fine with me. I thought it was an interesting question...certainly not a great question but an interesting one at that.
