I have asked several questions, maybe more than the average joe could answer on different areas here, well fine, but not ONE moderater helped. What is wrong here? I have a complaint with SWF.com. I know it's not easy to keep track of all the questions but EVERY question I had was not commented by a moderater unless it involved my mandarin goby, well it's small 10lbs LR so what, I need other advice and have asked it but no replies...subject way over done, get real! want coral questions answered, already posted, no one knows. I have spent loads of $ here and expect answers to my questions, others here are always welcome but sometimes we need the best answers possible from YEARS of experience that we can ALL learn from and I thought the moderaters were the ones to answer. Please help sammy, beth etc..

thats right, just b/c they are mods doenst mean they are the only ones that know. if someone gives you a bad answer im sure the mods would chime in.

Lets get this straight, we all work with jobs we really don't want to, but if this was my job and was hired to do it the best I can in helping our clients..then well, I don't know, maybe they are only doing this as a "favor". If not..I WANT anwers to questions, yes all the other members help but the bottom line, when no one can help I expect a moderater to jump in.. all some help from someone who I know here should help. Not too much to ask. Sammy has helped me via e-mail and I greatly appreceated it and more, but I have posted several questions with responses from anyone to help. Had to call other sources not related to this site to get answers. Lets work together. This is a great site but it needs help.

Dindi , I am a little confused here, There are alot of people on this BB that have a ton of knowledge and experience. The mod's are experienced that goes with out saying, but you can't expect just them to answer you everytime. I think the paragraph at the end of sammystingray's signature says it all.
Simply being a moderator here does not make me an expert at anything, so please don't take anything I say as fact. Many posts are simply opinions or statements derived from my own personal experience. Always take as many responses into consideration as possible.

I took a look at some of your posts, and you had replies. The mods are not SW gods able to conjure an answer out of thin air. They do it the way we all do it, pause, read, think, then type. I would look at the big picture, there are alot of people on this board with alot of personal experience. Let the people help you. If you get a response you do not like , ignore it and continue or delete the post and try it again with a rephrased question.
You may of spent alot of money with SWF.com but i do not know if any of the mods really work for them or not. But some how thinking that just because you spent alot of money with SWF.com that the mod's are going to say "Hey we need to help him before anyone else" doesn't make sense. That's how it is at some LFS I know, but i really don't think that is going to work real well with an online store. And making complaints to SWF.com about the mods is childish.
This is IMO , but give us all a chance you can learn alot !!

It doesn't seem like the mods responsability to answer every single question posted on this board. I'd be willing to bet that there are members of this board that have more years in the hobby and experience than some of the mods. So just because they don't have shark under their name their info isn't any good? Since i've been here there have been several new mods added to the list. The reason seem to be because they answered as many or more posts on here than even the mods did at the time and their answers were as good or better then the mods at the time. My point is they were members just like you and me and they were a bank of info for everyone to tap into. I have had many questions not answered by mods or by anyone for that matter. I asked why once and was told because my posts typically aren't short and simple to read. I haven't read any of your posts in question so i can't comment on the length or clearity of them. I'm fairly sure that the mods do not get paid to sit here all day and post replies. They may get some type of kickback but have normal jobs and normal lives as far as i know. I'm sure you don't read every single post on the board.

The moderators are not workers of SWF.com. They are just helping on the message board. There are others that can give help, too!

Rather than get your blood pressure up,I suggest you find your information elsewhere. I have had a saltwater reef for many years and since I discovered this site I rarely have to go elsewhere. SWF supports this board financially and I thank them for that. The moderators are not SWF employees (I don't know where you got that idea).They do a wonderful job of keeping this from becoming a "chat room".There are a lot of people that come here with a wealth of knowledge to share.I don't like to get personal,but with your attitude,I doubt that even I will rush to answer your next question. There,I don't really feel any better,but the people that keep this board going deserve better.

Give the mods and everybody else some credit, there are questions out there where others actually did their own internet research and then told the members of informative pages on the subject. Hardly half-hearted, I would say. SO, lighten up, and don't be so snappy, we're all here to help.

a couple of points,
first we do NOT GET PAID AT ALL
WE DO NOT GET PAID TO ANSWER QUESTION
we do volunteer to work here as a security type of issue
keep things civil
and help out as well as answer questions
it was described to me that I was not brought on bc of experience, but for other reasons
I do answer questions
I do edit posts as well
Now, if a question is answered and well
I will not often post
If there is a problem
i wills ay something
if there is a minor thing, i will also edit it if I think it is in line
I often do not respond also, if I do not know
the board is here to help you, not one or 2 fo us just dedicated to any one or 2 members
So, if the question was not answered or not answered by one of us
then probalby we had felt it was covered
or we wanted to see the post fall for some reason
or maybe we did not know the answer(we are also not hired as biologists either)
Not to mention, it is very difficult to read every post, believe me, i did at one point, when I was laid off from work for 7 months
not easy at all
In addition to the fact that we ar not here merely to answer your question, esp if it has been answered

The amount of money spent at SFW may be good for our host but means little to me personally...I am not an employee of SFW and don't get paid(in dollars) by our host. As mentioned above the moderators check for lots of things on a daily basis...which takes time. I try to respond to any questions I see that have not already been answered...and if I can't answer I try to refer the poster to reliable sources of information(in your case this link would be a good one to save)...lots of times as I check this forum I see questions that are already responded to....and I just move on. There are numerous experienced reefers here that have enormous amounts of experience and knowledge...some far more than any of the moderators.I've checked back on your recent posts and it appears to me that for the most part your questions have been adaquately addressed....maybe not by "moderators"...but by the members here that we "moderate".

Just another take on this issue for what its worth..
have you gone back and searched to past posts for your questions? Many if not most questions and issues have been at least touched on at one time or another here, and repitition of information sometimes gets old. You must research if you want knowledge!!
If you or anyone is looking for step by step directions or personal service this is not the place, go and find a LFS that you trust and they will generally give you that attention, that is what customer service is based on. But remember you will pay for that luxury and it may not always be good direction!!
Everyones goal here is to help and better the hobby of SWF, so please try to be cognizant of that and do the same. I will try to answer any questions that are within my experience and knowledge as well!!
