When to Tream Cheato

Hello everyone,
How do you know when to tream off a grown piece of cheato and how much of it to tream off ? I had a cheato about the size of a small apple, now it's about the size of a mellon.

I think when its getting to large for the area its time to trim. Be carefull when trimming. I've seen bristleworms hanging out in the mess.

Bristle worms will bite you. It's not that bad of a pain, but it does hurt. I learned the hard way taking some of my chaeto out myself. I personally take some out whenever it doesn't seem to be growing as fast, or when my fuge if full of chaeto with no more room to grow. I've never trimmed it, I just grab a big ball of it and pull it apart.
