Where 2 put thermometer

I feel kinda stupid, but here it goes. Should u place ur thermometer on the top, middle, or bottom of the tank? Right now it reads 82 and it is on the top. Thanx

Place your thermometer on the opposite side of the tank from your heater. The top/middle is fine. Mine stays near the top. You will just see a jump after your lights have been on for a while bcuz the surface has heated. But the overall water temp will be the same. So it will give an accurate reading.

well i have had a fw tank all my life and now im getting into the sw area of this hobby and i have always put mine on the bottom above the substrate and opisite to the heater. my thinking was heat rises and the coldest pat of the tank would be in the oppisite side of the tank near the bottom. thats my .02$

I have 2, on opposite sides of the tank, one high and one low. Mainly to make sure one doesn't screw up.

Well now, there you have it!! And I hope it helped, you should put it on the top, bottum, or not in the tank at all!!

You ain't gonna like this but mine's in the middle, no I swear it is!!

I put the heater in the sump and the therm. in the main tank.

I basically have heard every1s opion on a different place to put a theremometer. I have come to an agreement, I will just put it in the middle opposite to the heater. Thanx 4 ur help. Something else. How do u resize a pic to post? Thanx
