Where did all my pods go?

When i had my 55 set up a few monts ago i had tons of pods. They were all over the sand, live rock, and the algae on the glass. I had 75lbs or lr and 30 pounds of sand. Since i upgraded to my 84g i have only seen a couple of pods. I have 85lbs of lr and 130lbs of sand. Right now it has 2 percs and a royal gramma. They couldn't just have dissapeared and 3 little fish couldn't have eaten them all could they? I have only had the royal gramma for a few weeks.

I had my pod population kind of boom and bust for the first 6-9 months of my tank. I think it is just part of your system equalizing. I added a refuge and they are now all over the place. I would just wait it out a bit and I would imagine their numbers will stabalize as your tank matures. They've been through a lot.

I had pods out the ying yang at 4-6 months.
Now at 11 months the only ones I see are in a filter pad when I clean house. They are always large ones and I try to pick them out with a tweezer. I usually get 20 or so. They are quite large and I figure they must be reproducing but I do not see them like I used to.
Does anyone else rescue these pods like I do or am I anal?

yes you are anal, but so am i. . I always try to save my "ball of yarn worms " out of the sink and put my bugs back in the tank. It is silly, but it is hard to try and try to sustain life in a closed environment, and then to knowingly pour some of it down the drain.

Of course your sweet little fish could devour your entire pod population. They like them like we like to eat shrimp and crawfish!

Pod populations come and go. There are many types in your tank, not just one. This causes competition. The more abundant ones might have been eaten or bullied about by the bigger less abundant guys.
