thanks, guess I can't get a unbiased answer if the site dictates you cant talk about dealers. Go figure in the age of information sharing we're still muffled by mods.

Well, if the forum you ran also sold custom t-shirts, you wouldnt want someone coming in asking people where to get a better deal on a t-shirt.
Without the store part of this site, there would be no money/reason to keep this forum up

i hear its against the rules to name competition, but ***********.com is just as good as swf.com. they're both great, so i usually go with which one is cheaper.

Funny you mentioned that.. it's a fishing forum.. and yes I allowed people to post links to other forums

But what you guys are still missing is I WAS NOT asking about LOW Ball prices.. but more about reputation. There is a difference. I'd pay more for the same fish if I know it's not chemically caught

huh.. this is the only site I have seen the 15 day on.. a couple other may have a 3-5 day one... I wouldnt mind paying a little more for a 15 day warranty tho...
there are plenty of other sites that offer a 15 day guarantee. At no extra cost...

I order my fish online from 2 stores, this one and another very popular one that I can't mention the name. lol I've gotten great fish from both places. So I usually just buy from the store that has the fish I'm looking for. Unfortunately SWF has had very very fish in stock that I want, so I've been ordering from the other place more.

The goal of all business on line or not is to make money. In these times of a tight economy. It would be foolish not to comparison shop. There are many on line sites with great fish and a two-week guarantee. IMO it is foolish not to comparison shop. Loyalty is fine but when it comes to your hard earned money I say go for the best bang for your buck

Yessir. And I reiterate there are plenty of online stores that offer 14 or 15 day guarantees on livestock. One thing SWF does have going for it that I haven't found anywhere else is the more you order, the more free stuff you can add to your order. I haven't dealt with the credit issue since the minimum order price dropped so I don't know how the credit works now, but I know before, as said already, you had to buy another $79 worth of stuff before you could use your credit. Another popular site offers a refund or credit immediately upon a phone call, no questions asked.

I am a full supporter of this web site, as well as any site which hostess forums. In the long run its we the people who perpetuate these forums that get out information, which is beneficial to the longevity of our hobby. The more people are informed the greater the chance that they will continue to maintain their tanks and in the long run this is putting money in the pockets of all on line as well as our LFS. Asking on one site for recommendations of another may not be diplomatic but it in of it self is not a crime against the hobby we all love. I don’t think one should feel any sense of disloyalty by shopping around for a better deal

imo there is a difference between shopping around. (which we all do) and calling up radioshack and asking them for the number to best buy next door.

If you went to you’re LFS to buy a Royal Gramma and they were out but the owner told you that a store up the road had them in stock. Would that not be saying something positive about that store. again in not saying it was Diplomatic my point is if you shop else ware you are not being disloyal to these forums

If that was the case then sure. I worked in retail for several years. People would come into my store get me to teach them about the product then ask me where my competition was to price shop. After I just spend all this time helping them out. IMO that is very rude.
But sure if I didn't have anything in stock and they didn't want to drive 30 miles to my closest other store I'd tell em where else to look.
I'm not standing up for sfw.com I've never made a purchase from them and probably never will because I like to see my fish before I buy. I'm just agreeing that on a free forum sponsored by a company who sells fish, to ask who is the good competition is just rude. Especially after they request that you do not. (Some of their rules are a little over the top) And with the emergence of google. There are other forums who hit you up for money and will let you mention whoever you want. and imo it is like walking into radioshack using me for my knowledge then asking directions to bestbuy.

best buy sells better stuff

So I take it all the users of this forum.. SPECIFICALLY the people who think it's rude to ask about a store reputation.. ONLY buy their fish from here .. CORRECT???
What happens when they don't have what you want in stock? You wait and beg for them to get it in b/c you cant buy anything anywhere else?

My friend bottom line is it is your money to spend and only a fool would spend more out of a sense of misguided loyalty.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with shopping around and finding the right fish at the right price. Or whatever. However it is just inconsiderate in a place sponsored by one company and ask about others.
And yes, best buy sells way better stuff. Just don't waste an hour of my time, because you couldn't find someone who knows anything at best buy then walk back over there to make your purchase.
You see what I'm saying?
And personally I do think they go a little over the top with their competition rules, but it is free, and my personal rule is don't complain about free food, its free.
btw i think you'll find the junkies on this forum are members of others too. And if I need to make an online purchase and these guys don't have it, I'll have a place to check.

you could have just googled online fish stores to price shop or look for certain fish or whatever,
as far as your question for reputation i think swf has one of the best reputations on their livestock than any other online store.. and no they do not chemically catch their livestock like another big site.. also they are very generous and want to make you happy so if you ever do have a problem with what you get, which most people dont, you can contact them and they will probably give you some money back or if it dies around 15 days they would send you another and im guessing now that they reduced the min order amount you would only have to pay that amount to get your credit or just pay that much to get the min and then use the credit for shipping?
