Hello all I have some diy projects comming up and was wondering where the cheapest place online to get acrylic? I know SWF doesent sell so I hope this thread will be ok. If not please let me know.
google piedmont plastics, fredie's plastics, fellers, grimco, and recce sign supply. you should have one of these stores close to you but you will most likely have to buy a 48 x 96 inch piece.
if you buy from a local supplier they will cut to size and will not charge you for a full sheet. Also if your projects are small enough they will (most of the time) allow you to go through the scrap bins and charge you a small price for the scrap material.

My buddies who own an acrylic shop always let me rummage through the scraps.....That's how I got my hand on 5' of 10" acrylic tubing.........I'm thinking of building my own skim collector with autoshut off........
Best price if found on line was Delvies plastic inc. They will make precision cuts for 20 per order and shipping is around 50.
It may not be true of your neck of the woods but most likely retail will be a 100 percent mark up or more. I could not help but laugh out loud at some of the sales people in my area when they told me what they wanted for a 4x8 sheet of raw acrylic material. They then had the nerve to ask ten dollars per cut. I wonder how they sleep at night.
Sounds fair to me. Its probably just my area (south west coast of fl). Things are totally out of control around here. Common retail mark up on everything starts at a hundred percent. Home Insurance has become almost impossible to afford if you can get it at all.
It also appears that retailers have decided to do away with the concept of competition and have agreed to just charge whatever they think the market will bare. In other words it is futile to shop around, they all charge the same price. I am seriously considering a move to a different part of the country.
I doubt the lesson will be learned until they crash the place. Of course that can then be blamed on all the deep sand beds around here
well the problem is there is no way to keep the lexan held to the glass walls a silicone will hold glass just fine but will not hold acrylic thathas much force on it. and with your piece IM gussing its 3 mill or 1/3 thick already having a hard time holding the water back I would sujest finding a local glass shop and asking for some scrap. the lexan will not hold for long
shorter will just reduce your hight not your pressure per inch. if you already have everything go ahead and do it but be prepared to have to replace it
