It seems like a lot of the smartest people on this board are gone. I used to get considerably more replies to my questions. I think this place is not well known enough to attract more hobbyists. I think we could also have a couple more categories, like one for equipment and one for new links and more info.

In a previous post I said I was against adding any new forums, but I MUST agree that adding one for equipment is a very good idea!

There are a lot of questions about skimmers and lighting. It would be a great idea if we had a separate forum for those, and have other equipment in there too.

I'd vote YES to that. But only that, too many topic areas make it hard to keep up with everything. I already spend about 5 hrs a day here. Not that I'm complaining.I did get a chance to go trolling on the BIG lake this morning. I got a 28lb salmon.Five fish in all on my boat, not too bad. I know whats for lunch.STEVE

You live in PA. Must have been a long trip to find some DEEP SALT. Lake Michigan is only 1.5 miles from my door. And the salmon are running. Must have been 100 boats fishing the river mouth. we were only out 2 hours. STEVE

Hey Jimi, We go deep sea fishing once a year off Hattera NC. This past june after catching a Mahi Mahi, there was also some seaweed that came into the boat (nothing unusual). Just before the mate hosed of the boat we noticed there was a little fish sitting there. We scooped him up and put him in a bucket with water. I forget what kind of fish he was (it was before our tank was really set up)but, he had a little hook above his mouth (later on saw him in the store for $50.) The mate said, "Oh, yeah, you find all kinds of thing in the seaweed- seahorses, fish, and just about everything". My wife and I were more interested in the seaweed for the rest of the trip than the "big fish". Can't wait till next year. By the way, trip was very successful- over 400lbs of fish including mahi mahi and tuna.

Hey all...I've got a 2 acre pond on my farm here 100yards from the back door...catfish the size of whales and big big largemouths...
like to fish but not in the summer...water moccasins outnumber the fish 2 to 1. Sorry for all the freshwayer talk here...the gulf coast is 7 hours from here...and as an old navy man I hate seeing the ocean...

Dont worry about the fishing stories,I'm enjoying them. I'm going back out today to get more salmon. Part time job this time of year,$50 per person,as many fish as you can get in 2-3 hours. I'll use the money to help with my 125's lighting. Pretty ironic,Using freshwater fishing money to buy saltwater tank stuff. STEVE

Hey Corky I also saw all kinds of little fish and crabs around the floating seaweed beds thats where the puffer was too. The year before last we caught 88 mahi mahi and 9 tuna. I couldnt go last year because I went to New Mexico on an elk hunt but when I wasnt hunting I managed to catch a few nice rainbows one was about 23in. Salty your a lucky man!

You know what surprises me is all the people that live around here and never even go to the lake, much less reap the benafits of living on the largest freshwater system in the world.STEVE

Fishing is what got me into this cool hobby. I do a ton of fly fishing, and I tie my own flies and sell them. that is how I get some aquarium $$$$. But I still can not wait till hunting season. My dad just got back from an elk hunt in Idaho, and an elk ran over him and blew out his knee.
sorry about the off-topic post
