where is my chaeto?

I've had chaeto thriving in my refugium the past couple years and decided to add some to the DT. It adds great color that I have not seen since my LR lost whatever grass had been growing there. A few days after adding the chaeto, its gone. I did not see any fish grazing on it.

Why does Chaeto not survive in a DT but thrives in a refugium?

Do you have tangs?
I know i have had my cheato disappear in my fuge for the following reasons :lack of nutrients ,low flow.

I would bet they are part of the mystery. You have tangs so you know how they will fly in and snatch some algae and then take off.

I put chaeto in my tank and it's instantly attacked by my tangs (that's how I deal with all the extra that grows so quickly). The stuff the don't finish always gets finished off later too. You may not see it but they're almost certainly eating it.

I have it in my display tank and it's doing great. Although I did take my tang back to my LFS. He had a horrible attitude and after he got me with his barb for the 2nd time, I was done! The bottle trick worked well!
