I am starting a 40 gallon High reef tank with 29 gallon sump/ref. I am going to need about a 100lbs of live rock. I have been looking at pictures and Like the purple rock the best I think it is fiji. I have found a one place that sells 45lb boxes for $110.00, but if you order 3 or more boxes they are $99.00 per box. Also found one other place that sells for $4.00 per pound, and one place that sells it for $3.15 per pound in 65lb boxes. The last place looks like it has the best quality from the pics. All places listed are websites. If someone could email me the best place to buy live rock online I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Try to go to your local fish store and quote some of these prices you are finding online. I did this and mine matched the price. This way you can be sure you are geting quality live rock and you are supporting local business.

My LFS sells it for 3.79 a pound for Fiji. That's the cheapest around here. I would rather pay a little extra to be able to pick out the rock myself than have someone do it for me.

Make your own! It's about a dime a pound! Go to Google, type in "diy live rock" "diy" means do it yourself. It's SUPER easy. And with needing 100 lbs, you'll save hundreds! Start off with about 10 lbs of L/R from your lfs to seed it, then make your own and it will become "live" in about 3-4 months. Not only will you save big $$$$$, but you'll save the enviornment too.

My lfs wants $7.00 per pound for LR. Also if I am using a 40 gallon display with a 29 gallon sump/ref with 15 gallons of ref and 14 of sump would I need LR for 69 a 1.5-2 lbs per gallon or LR for 55 gallon (Display + Ref)?
